The Boston Beara Society

Since the formation of the Society in 1995 we have delved into the history, art and music of the Beara peninsula and the achievements of her people in Ireland and the US.  With this foundation we can now zoom out to the broader world of Irish America. In so doing our focus goes quickly to one who is so much a part of our personal, family and community lives that without this foundation of ours we may have taken his gifts for granted. The Boston Beara Society has adapted as it's logo an image of the Cailleach Bheara, the mythological figure who's petrified remains may still be seen in Kilcatherine in the Parish of Eyeries

The Boston Beara Society 2012 Social Details

On Sunday, March 25th the Boston Beara Society meets to celebrate our heritage and support those among us who make that special effort toward its preservation and promotion for present and future generations. The most recent accomplishment in this is the completion of the state-of-the-art Archives building in Butte Montana.

Many of us have had family members living in Butte through this period of cultural and industrial nation building whose documented contribution is now preserved in this climate and humidity controlled facility.

Coming from Butte to tell us about this is the woman who oversees the Archives, Ellen Crain.

The Society committee has chosen to recognize Bob Walsh for his many years of dedication to The Knights and Ladies of St. Finbarr,
and his support of the Boston Beara Society.

Please join us from 2:00 to 7:00 on Sunday March 25th at Florian Hall, Dorchester, MA.

Dinner, dance music with Andy Healy, door prizes, audience participation and more!

Tickets, $50, will be held at the door by calling any of the committee…
